
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the principles and practices of modern management, equipping students with the essential knowledge and skills to effectively lead and manage organizations in the 21st century. The curriculum begins with foundational concepts including the nature, functions, roles, and skills of management, followed by an exploration of classical and contemporary management theories. Students will analyze the internal and external organizational environment using tools such as PESTEL analysis, and examine the core management functions of planning (including decision-making and planning tools), organizing (job design, departmentalization, delegation, and resource allocation), leadership and motivation (theories, styles, and their impact on performance), and controlling (setting standards, measuring performance, and corrective action). The course also addresses critical modern topics such as managing workforce diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), talent management, employee well-being, change management, globalization, innovation, and other contemporary challenges facing managers today. Through case studies, tutorials, assignments, and a mid-semester test, students will develop technical, human, and conceptual skills necessary to navigate complex organizational environments and drive sustainable success
