Major Project 1: Capstone Project – Part 1
Major Project 1 is the first part of the capstone project for students completing the Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering. It allows students to identify a real-world problem and propose an appropriate software-based solution by applying the knowledge and skills developed throughout the programme.
During this stage, students must define the problem, establish the project aim and objectives, review related systems or literature, identify user and system requirements, assess project feasibility and select suitable software-development methods and technologies. Students must also develop a project plan, system requirements specification, preliminary system design and prototype where required.
The project evaluates students’ abilities in research, requirements engineering, systems analysis, software design, project planning, technical documentation, problem-solving and professional communication. The approved proposal and design outputs developed during Major Project 1 provide the foundation for system development, testing, implementation and evaluation in Major Project 2.
